They are the only canids with no dew claws, and that's not because their breeders cut them off when they are puppies!Ĩ Every African Wild Dog has a different pattern of spots, so it is pretty easy to tell them apart. The dogs in southern Africa are mostly bigger than the ones in eastern or western Africa. They usually weigh between 40 and 75 pounds, and they are about 30 inches tall at the shoulder.
